------------ Lina the Sorceress

Lina is quite an opponent to be reckoned with. By the age of fifteen she is the most powerful Black Magic sorceress, feared by many. She specializes in Black Magic and Shamanism (fire magic), though her attacks vary to all kinds.

In Black Magic, all spells are called from lords. Everything is ruled by the Lord of Nightmares, the most powerful. The two most powerful attacks are the Giga Slave and the Laguna Blade which are both created by Lina. The other four lords are Chaotic Blue, Dark Star, Death Fog, and Ruby-Eyed Shabranigdo. In Shamanism, there are four categories: Fire, Water, Earth, and Air. Lina specializes in Fire.

Lina is very powerful except for "that time of the month." She can't use her magic during those few days and is also vulnerable when she's hungry because she doesn't have enough energy.

------------ Lina's Attack Glossary

Aqua Create:  Snapping her fingers, a huge wave of water shoots up from the ground wherever Lina wants it to go.

Assha Dist:  A small attack which Lina uses to disintegrate nonliving creatures.

Balus Rod:  This is a small whip-like attack which is very short-distance, but it's precise in aiming. Lina uses this when attacking small creatures and stuff.

Befis Bring:  Lina says this and points to the ground, which caves in at the place she pointed.

Blam Gush:  A huge ball of energy gathers into Lina's hands, then blasts out in a spiral shape in front of her. When she shouts "break," rays of light from the spiral go all around and break everything. This is the chant: "Wind which blows across all eternity, gather in my hand and become my strength! BLAM GUSH!"

Blast Ash:  Used to surrounds the opponent with a bunch of black energy.

Boo Briemer:  Lina takes a ball of energy to the ground, it travels to a nonliving object (like a boulder), making it come to life and bash her enemy.

Burst Rondo:  Lina casts this spell and balls of energy fly out of her palm and attack in many different directions.

Damu Blast:  A spell where Lina throws a small red ball of energy at the enemy. It explodes upon contact, and it's tiny so it doesn't affect anything around it. Used in enclosed spaces such as caves.

Dark Mist:  Used to fill the area with mist.

Demona Crystal:  A very cool attack where a huge beam of ice comes out of Lina's hand. It freezes anything that is in its path and everything else around it.

Diem Wing:  Lina uses this attack to blow away people. It creates a great gust of wind which is concentrated from Lina's hand and blown at her opponent.

Digger Bolt:  A blast of powerful lightening comes out of Lina's hands. It usually zaps and kills whatever it hits. The target sometimes catches on fire.

Dis Fang:  With this attack, black energy comes flying out of Lina's hand in the form of a dragon and attacks her target.

Dragon Slave:  This is the favorite attack of many a fan. You'll see Lina using it in the first episode. It's one of the most powerful spells that a human can do without a talisman (i.e.: the Sword of Light). It's strong enough to destroy a whole city and has to be used with caution. It's called from the Dark Lord, Shabranigdo. The spell goes: "Darkness from twilight, crimson from blood that flows, buried in the flow of time. In Thy great name, I pledge myself to darkness! Those who oppose us shall be destroyed by the power you and I possess! DRAGON SLAVE!"

Dug Haut:  Lina casts this spell by getting energy into her hand, and then putting her hand down on the ground. It causes a big boulder come up out of the earth.

Dynast Bras:  Electricity surrounds Lina, reaching upwards, turns a red color, and then shoots out at her target. The electricity forms a magic-star around the target, then it gets magnetized to the middle where the target is standing, followed by a huge explosion.

Elmedia Lance:  A beam of light is shot out at the enemy and it damages its spirit. It doesn't make any physical damage, but can make the enemy fall unconscious or stop the spell their making. For example, Lina used it against Shabranigdo right when he was powering up an attack, and Shabranigdo stopped. She also uses it against ghosts.

Ferious Breed:  "Stars which pass through heaven's night skies, heed the ancient covenant with the earth! I pledge my life that he may be called forth! FERIOUS BREED!" Lina says this to summon something. She once summoned a dove to get out of subspace. She also created a barrier so that when they were escaping from subspace, they'd go to a safe place.

Fireball:  In this spell, a ball of fire appears between Lina's hands, and then she throws it at her target. It explodes on contact and fire goes everywhere. It makes a big explosion which is why it's really hard for Lina to use it in enclosed spaces (such as hotel rooms). It's a very popular spell which Lina uses a lot. She can also make it appear at places other than between her hands and she can also throw it up and then shouts "break," signaling when it's to explode.

Flare Arrow:  This is where Lina forms an arrow between her hands and shoots it at the enemy. The size and the amount of arrows depends on how skilled the person casting it is. For example, Slypheel can't cast a good arrow because she's not skilled in it. Instead, it turns out to be a teeny tiny little stick. It's a really short spell to cast, and Lina uses it a lot.

Flare Bit:  Little balls of light come out of Lina's hands and attack in all kinds of directions. It's not that powerful and will usually hurt the enemy instead of kill it.

Flow Break:  Lina says this and a magic circle appears under her. Then, in an instant, she and whoever she's with are transported away.

Freeze Arrow: This is the equivalent of Flare Arrow. An arrow of ice appears between Lina's hands and she throws it at the enemy. It can also freeze the opponent's feet to the ground.

Gaav Flare:  A little purple ball of energy appears in Lina's hand and she throws it at the enemy. When it hits, it goes on, destroying everything else behind it.

Gauli Wind:  Lina says this and wind blasts out of her hand. She uses this to block attacks or stop opponents from getting closer to her, or to make a ship move faster by pointing her hand opposite the direction she wants to go.

Giga Slave:  This attack is one of the two most powerful spells that can be done in Black Magic. Lina used this spell to defeat Shabranigdo. It's called from the Lord of Nightmares. Lina used the Sword of Light while attacking Shabranigdo with this spell, making it stronger. This spell is so powerful that if Lina messes slips up, the universe, being as we know it, could be consumed by chaos. When Lina cast this spell against Shabranigdo, she had no idea that the consequences could've been that bad, so she sealed the spell so that it would no longer be cast. She says these words to cast it: "Darkness beyond blackest pitch, deeper than the deepest night! Lord of Darkness, shining like gold upon the Sea of Chaos, I call upon thee! swear myself to thee! Let the fools who stand before us be destroyed by the power you and I possess! GIGA SLAVE!"

Levitation:  Lina uses this to fly. It takes a lot of energy to do so she can't keep it up for long. Since Gourry can't cast spells, he often has to hang onto her.

Lightning:  This is a simple spell that Lina uses to light up an area. It can last for a long time, and she sometimes tricks people into thinking that it's a dangerous spell by making a really bright flash with it. It can also be used to stun the enemy. The brighter the flash, the less amount of time she can keep the light going.

Ly Breim:  This is a short-range attack of Lina's. A wave of ice comes out of her hand and freezes her opponent.

Mega Brando:  Lina points her finger upwards, and the place which she's aiming, the ground and anything else above it, is blasted upwards.

Moon Flare:  Rays come flying up into the sky from Lina's hand and hit her target.

Mosu Varimu:  Used to extinguish fire spells that the enemy shoots.

Ragna Blade:  "Lord of Darkness of the Four Worlds! I call upon you! Grant me all the power that you possess! Sword of the cold, dark void... free yourself from the heavens' bonds! Become one with my power, one with my body... And let us walk the path of destruction together! Power that can smash even the souls of the gods! RAGNA BLADE!" In this spell, a black spiral gathers into Lina's hands and she uses it as a sword. This attack is so strong and powerful that it can even cut across the Astral Plane and can kill an enemy even if he's in another dimension. It's called from the Lord of Nightmares.

Ray Wing:  This creates a current of wind used to ride on for close escapes and such. It requires a lot of concentration so Lina can't use any other spells while casting this one, and when her concentration is broken, she falls.

Screen Rason:  This attack is a kind of barrier used this to block other attacks.

Van Rail:  Lina uses this to freeze her enemies into a big ice block. She uses it mainly to buy time, because the ice begins to melt and the enemy can get out. She uses it against immortal creatures. This is what she says to cast the spell: "Holy Wind, Wind that gently blows across the land, let all things be filled with your pure breath! VAN RAIL!"

Zelas Goto:  Lina uses this to summon a jellyfish. She learned this from Naga.
